Wow... I'm a slacker. This turned out to be rather long...Get comfy!

Julianne had her first piggy the other day. I was rather proud of myself. I thought I'd lost my ability to put in a piggy on a squirmy head, but I got it! I sent the pic to my sister and she said, "Cindy Lou Who!" and I thought it was pretty fitting. Cute baby, eh?


I can't believe I missed blogging about this one! Last Tuesday (sheesh, it's already been a week???!!!) Jon took the Utah Bar Oath. Another day, another Oath. There were tons of people there. Too bad they didn't have a job-fair at the same time so we could find a job. They had the Utah court judges there to accept the new lawyers and the one that spoke said with this bar admission it made 10,000 lawyers in Utah. No wonder we are still not finding anything!

I was really trying to get good pics, but if I left the flash on, they were dark like this. If I turned it off, they were blurry b/c I was holding Julianne and she kept kicking her feet! Grr... It was actually a pretty short ceremony so, I got what I got.

I just love winter hats. She crashed b/c it was her bedtime but it just made her that much cuter!

What happens when Dad and Mason get left home alone with spare cardboard?? A racetrack, of course! Brooklyn thoroughly enjoyed it, too:

Last night we went to the pumpkin walk and carved pumpkins with Jon's family. It was fun. And cold.

Mason was way excited he could be Mickey Mouse. Wouldn't let go of my hand, though...

And Brooklyn, Ariel. Actually Brooklyn had to stick her head in them all but for the sake of the length of this novel, I refrained from posting them all.
We rode the bus so we didn't have to walk very far. The kids were WAY excited. Mason was bummed we didn't ride the school bus, though. Oh well. A bus is a bus, I guess.
Julianne and I had a good time.
Jon could think of other things he'd rather do....
Then we carved pumpkins. Brooklyn was instructing Jon and how to carve it.
Mason and I worked together...
Julianne supervised. It worked out well.

6 months already

Well, it's that time again. Time to visit the Dr. Time to make Julianne cry. Time to see how big she is....Time to sleep it all off:


She's officially 6 months and weighs in at 14 lbs 2oz and is 26 3/4 in long. That puts her in the 15th percentile for weight and 84th for height.....yep. Sounds like my kid.

Here (above) she is wearing yet another "Brooklyn" outfit (story of her life), although I've decided she must be smaller than Brooklyn was at this age. Even though she's a month older (timewise), none of Brooklyn's clothes quite fit like I remember. Of course Brooklyn stretched them all out, and I don't have access to Brooklyn's numbers at the moment. It'll be interesting to see when I do.

Here's cousin Jeffrey. He's a week younger....not that it looks it :).


Here's to yet another visit with the Dr., 4 vaccinations, and 1 flu vaccine. Pray we have a good day :)

Bread

After several requests, here's my Mom's bread recipe. She made bread every other Friday on her day off and if she happened to make it on the weekend, she always used some of it for scones at lunch (YUM!). It's super good and really easy. Good luck!

Carole's Bread:
2 cups milk
3 Tbsp Shortening
1/2 cup sugar (+a small amount for the yeast)
1 tsp salt
2 Tbsp yeast
1 inch water
Approx. 7 cups flour

Scald 2 cups milk on stove (milk is scalded just before it starts to boil), pour over the 3 Tbsp shortening, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 tsp salt. Put about an inch of water in the milk pan and add 2 Tbsp yeast and a little sugar (to feed the yeast). Let the yeast work in the pan until it's all foamy and growing. Then, mix together the milk mixture and yeast and the approx. 7 cup flour (this will change depending on your altitude and how much water you use in the yeast. Just add more if you need it). Mix well and then knead for approximately 5 minutes. Let rise in the bowl (covered with plastic wrap; be sure to grease the plastic so the bread doesn't stick...) for 20 to 30 minutes. Make loaves (makes 2 regular loaves) and put in greased bread pans and cover with plastic again, let rise 20-30 minutes more (til it's doubled or so). Bake for 15 minutes at 375 degrees then turn the oven down to 325 and bake for 30 minutes more.
Take the bread out of the pans immediately and set on the counter to cool (it's delish warm, but letting it cool for a little while is wise...:)
She (and I) always spread the tops of the bread with butter right as it comes out of the oven (I just get a stick out of the fridge and rub it on the tops then just put it back...)
