Mason is 4!!

Which to him, means he has one more year before he has to try ketchup :). Silly kid. Anyway. We had our festivities yesterday and they were pretty fun. I'm not sure today is more fun, though. We only opened a few presents in the morning before Jon left and by the time we got them all opened at night it was bedtime. So, now, today he can play with them all...

The present suspense wasn't only killing him. Brooklyn was DYING to know what was inside that wrapping paper! Like I said, we waited until after dinner to open them and boy was it a long afternoon for her!
We started our day off at the playplace. Mason and Julianne had a ball. Brooklyn was very upset that she missed out. She loves school but thinks our lives should all wait for her to get out. Mason also got a gigantic cupcake from Barnes and Noble for his birthday. I love free clubs. They're the best.
Here's Jon putting the last touches on his newest masterpiece. This one was a lot of things before it was a crane. We started out wanting a tractor, then we wanted Lego Star Wars, then Lightening, then Dinaco Lightening. In fact, I baked a flat 9 x 13 expecting Jon to just decorate with a Lightening on top and came home to this:
Mason saw it in a cake book and Jon went for it. Mason and I are looking away b/c we skyped with Grandma and Grandpa Hibshman for the cake. Too bad we couldn't send them some through the computer. Leftovers are overflowing here...
Everyone was pretty excited about the cake. Julianne kept telling Grandma good-bye because she wanted "frosting and cake" and I told her I'd get her some after we talked to Grandma.... She is Jon's kid. Frosting. The girl wanted FROSTING.
Mason was pretty stoked about his cake. All this work and he wanted a ding dong. I convinced him to have a piece of the cake instead, but still....

FINALLY we got to play with the toys. Brooklyn was concerned with opening them all...Mason was concerned with playing with the one in his hand. Whichever one that happened to be...
And, today has been blissful. He has new tractors, new cars, a new Mario shirt and a new Bob movie that we've already watched. According to him, turning 4 is great. Too bad he's not excited that he has to go see the Dr. tomorrow... I won't tell him I'm planning on hitting the photography studio next week sometime. ha!

Holy cow...

In one day and a half, my baby boy will be 4. I'm already in shock. I just thought I might warn you all since I might actually blog that event. Holy cow. 4!

No one keel over from shock....

I haven't blogged in forever, so I'm sure no one will be surprised that this will be a bit of a picture overload. We had Christmas and New Years' and general good times. Before we jump into all the festivities, though, I have a little project that I was thoroughly thrilled with :). I can put it on the old blog now that they've been given. My sister-in-law is expecting a little bundle of joy and I had this great idea for some onesies...

A giraffe and an elephant. I should've outlined the elephant in a colored thread, it would be easier to see... oh well. I still like them.
And, my most proud moment... Chuck! I love watching Chuck and we used to watch it together so I thought they would think I'm funny :). Then I kind of copped out and cut a picture out of some fabric I used for Mason. It turned out way cute, though so I still love it! I hear she liked them and I wish I could've been there when they were opened :)..

Any who.. moving on to the point of the post...
Christmas. During our preparations for Christmas we visited Santa and took a little ride on the train. Brooklyn and Mason were, of course, ecstatic about our adventure...
Julianne, not so much.
This was her response to the train. After she figured out I wasn't going with her, anyway.
Waiting for Santa... I was expecting another pouty face from Julianne but got this instead:
Who knew. A harmless train ride around in circles...NO WAY; a strange guy in a big red suit? Sure, why not..
Christmas eve we got some new jammies and passed the night away playing Sorry. It's one of my favorites and lucky for me, the kids love it too. They're even get big enough to play for real (woohoo!).
Christmas morning: The kids were itching to get downstairs!!
And, of course, we were not disappointed!





Christmas day we made a big ham dinner. It was DELICIOUS!! I love good food! Too bad it always leaves SO many leftovers!! It was totally worth it, though.

And, I attempted Jon's favorite Coconut Cream Pie...his mom's!. My attempt got thrown away b/c it looked wrong, but we tried again and it turned out to be delish!! (Turns out, my attempt was right, but live and learn).
Yes, it was that good.
Finally, the best way to spend the evening on the day after Christmas? Wrapped in a quilt watching a new movie, of course!!

New Year's was pretty low-key. We did some shopping and put the kids to bed on time. We watched the NY ball party for a while and then turned on a movie. We rang in the New Year watching "Alice in Wonderland" and went to bed at 1 a.m. That's the latest we've stayed up in a while... If we hadn't been watching a movie, we probably wouldn't have made it :)...

The next big event? Mason turns 4! I can't believe it. oiy.
