old granny Hibshman

I feel old. I'm not yet 30. I found a varicose vein. On my leg. {sigh}. I'll spare you the picture.

success

Woohoo! We went for the official weight check today and Julianne gained nearly a whole pound! Yay! That puts her in the 2nd percentile :). Hey. 2 is better than 0, right? Also she's grown about 1/2 an inch. It's progress and both Dr. V. and I were pleased.

Unfortunately, I was pretty embarrassed on the way in. I walked across the lot and up onto the sidewalk and promptly lost my balance. I don't know if I stepped on a rock wrong or what, but I started to wobble, like I was going to twist my ankle (didn't, thank goodness), and couldn't quite catch myself. I fell, trying all the while to cushion Julianne from the blow, and tore my FAVORITE levi's and scratched my knee. This VERY nice man came rushing across the parking lot, asking if I was okay and helped me up. Needless to say. I was very embarrassed sitting in the waiting room with a giant tear in my pants and feeling a little shaky. Sigh. If only I was a little more graceful. Oh well. At least Julianne wasn't hurt and I only have a small wound. I will survive. What a day. What a day.

pictures

Since my last post was rather wordy, I decided this post should be less wordy and more picture-y :). I hope you all enjoy.

This is how Julianne generally fells about Brooklyn grabbing ahold of her. Trust me. She's gets grabbed a lot.

If you recall, I mentioned that there was a birthday party the night that Brooklyn woke up spotted. This is the cake from said birthday party. Yes, my husband is amazing. You can all be jealous now :). BTW, it is 3-D. He made Mickey's snout out of extra cake :).

Click to enlarge...I told you she woke up spotted. I was a little freaked. Whew. Thank goodness it was just an allergy.

These are the nights I think we should move Brooklyn to the top bunk. Jon is reluctant. I feel bad for her, though.

Mason's 3rd (and final) birthday party with all the other kids who had a birthday at that time. He got his very own cake at this extravaganza. Carole made him a rocket ship out of fondant
He was content.

Why hold your milk with your hands when your teeth work just as well? It also works well for crawling. Just in case you were wondering.

Presents from bday party #3. This dump truck goes on its own and pulls the tractor on the trailer. Mason LOVES it!

Mason out on the ice. I don't know why, but all of the sudden he won't let us pull him on the sled. He just gets all bundled up and sits on the sled and watches. He doesn't want to skate or sled. He just sits there. Oh well. Whatever.

Julianne enjoyed it, however. She was content to go around and around. I enjoyed pulling her. She would just lay there until you smiled at her and then get a huge grin on her face :).

Notice Mason in the background. Just sitting. On the sled. His seat must be a sled.

Brooklyn was brave enough to go past the smooth patio. She went around the trees a couple times. She's a brave little toaster...

And, Finally, the Valentine's Tea. If you ask Jon and his siblings, the Valentine's tea was a yearly torture that they endured ALLL through elementary school. I think all 7 of them have some horror story to tell. Brooklyn, however, found it rather enjoyable. She got to wear a fancy dress. She could sit wherever she wanted, by whomever she wanted. They gave her an eclair and some candy and then she got to dance. She was content.
She did actually sit by a boy, but I forget his name. I love helping in her classroom just so I can watch her interact. It's so fun!

Well, I hope that satisfies the picture craving for a while. I'll try to be better about being a regular blogger :).

fell off.

Ok, so I kinda fell off the bus. Sorry. Since I'm on the wrong computer for pictures, this will be a wordy one. I felt the need to catch everyone up.

So, my last blog was about repeating trips to the doctor. I just want you all to know that my amazing skills of going to the doctor repeatedly continued after that post. Exactly 10 days later, on Brooklyn's LAST day of amoxocillan, she woke up COVERED in spots. Me, being the knowledgable mom I am, worried it was chicken pox, SO off to the doctor we went. She had school (it being Wednesday) and a birthday part at our (grandma's) house that night that would've been devastating to miss. I had to know she wasn't contagious. Turns out, she allergic to amoxicillan. It took 10 days for her body to build up the antibodies and she was just covered in spots. Needless to say, she did not get the last dose and spent the next five days on claritin. Luckily, it all cleared right up.

Last friday, Julianne woke up coughing and VERY wheezy and I was seriously worried that the RSV had come back. Since Mason had been coughing for a few days, I just took them both. So, by this time it's been three weeks since an actual appointment and I've been to the dr. 5 times (include the appt.). She got some albuterol to clear her lungs. She most likely has a different cold and still has fluid from her infection. Mason's was just a cold and he had fluid, too but niether of them were infected (whew).

Right now, I'm crossing my fingers I don't have to go again before Friday, which is when Julianne's appt. is to see if she's gaining more weight after drinking milk. Turns out she has, which I was ecstatic over! When we went on Friday, she'd gained somewhere around a pound and that was only in the 3 weeks since her check-up. She's been super fussy and clingy, though so I'm not really holding my breath...

That's pretty much what I do these days. Take Brooklyn to school....take anyone and everyone to the dr.... Sew a little here and there. (a post about that later) and dilly dally around. In the last few day's I've read Pride and Prejudice again. It's my favorite, and I've been reading the Golden Compass Series. Love it!

Posts I'm intending to do are: The sewing adventures (as if you all haven't had enough of that...) and Brooklyn's first Adams Elementary Valentines Tea... I'll get to those soon. Until then, Happy Valentines, everyone. May your weekend be filled with joy :)
