Here we are, back to the day to day. Nothing exciting has really happened. Just as we'd hoped :). There have been a few fun things going on, though.
Somehow, Julianne has become a toddler. And, I have to say, it's a little trippy to see her in Brooklyn's clothes. She wore the little ones, then grew out of them. The next box was buried in the storage unit, so Julianne acquired a wardrobe of her own. Then, the weather cooled off and I was able to dig out clothes that Brooklyn wore. Again I say, it's a little trippy to see her wear them. That would be a post for another day. I'll have to dig up some pictures.
Julianne has discovered Elmo. She asks for him, but is content to watch "Bob" "Koop" (scoop), or "Thomas". She repeats pretty much everything we say. It's crazy how well she communicates. I'm sure it's come on gradually, but it truly seems like she started talking over night.
She often out-eats the other two kids. Brooklyn and Mason will be complaining about what is or isn't on their plates and she will be asking for more. I really really hope this lasts. You can see one more thing about Julianne at the bottom, but I want to save it for when we get there.
On to Mason. Although he struggles with playing alone, he's getting better at it. It has been hard for him to have Brooklyn gone all day and Julianne go down for a nap. He doesn't know what to do with himself. In his boredom, however, he has discovered the Little People; or as they're known in our house, the Children. I wonder why all kids line the children up into a neat little row? Brooklyn does it, too.
Also, on this day, Mason discovered that the boat and the plane play the same song with different words. All I can say is THANK GOODNESS he didn't realize that the school bus does, too. OIY! He just kept pushing the buttons over and over and over. And in case you don't know, I'll tell you, that dang song gets STUCK in your head!
He was having a good time, though. That's all that matters, right?
Brooklyn is doing well. She loves school, but I'm realizing that she misses being at home. She keeps asking why we can't go to the library, and the mall, and the zoo.... all stuff we used to do when we were home all day. I can't seem to explain to her that being at school takes the time that we used to use for that. It seems that I'm going to have to squeeze in some of that stuff on the days she is home. She gets especially upset when Mason tells her about things that we do. Again, OIY.
I like to tease a little and I think this pic is funny. This is the Saturday I worked in the morning. Can you tell?
Oh, by the way, I'm pretty sure everyone who reads my blog also sees facebook, but just in case.... I am employed. I got a part-time job at Kohl's. I'm excited about it, but still in training. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully it will work out just as great as Archiver's seemed to.
Finally, Sunday we were home all day, so I took the opportunity to attempt my mom's cinnamon rolls. I've mastered her bread (woohoo!!), and she used her bread dough to make cinnamon rolls. They turned out pretty good, even though I messed up the dough (too much flour). I was a little proud of myself, I must say. I like how simple they are. Complicated recipes are fun, but sometimes it's nice to just throw something together and have it turn out.
Finally, back to Julianne. She is so funny. She's started noticing Elmo and Sesame street Characters on books and movies and toys around our house. Especially when she sees Big Bird, but pretty much whenever she sees Sesame Street, she starts singing "La Dee Dah Dee Dah" over and over. I LOVE IT!! I tried to take a video, and if you listen really closely you can hear it. Unfortunately, the t.v. kind of drowns it out, and Brooklyn was talking in the background; but listen close, you'll catch it. Enjoy!
Before I get to the point of this post, I thought I'd hold good to my promise. Here is Brooklyn in her witch shirt. It did shrink a little but it still pretty big. Oh well. She can wear it again next year :). This is the house she built for all her Madame Alexander McDonald's dolls. She LOVES to do that... :)
Also, Poor Kid. She didn't get much of a nap that day. Can you tell? Her dinner couldn't even keep her awake.
The recipe is courtesy of my mother's recipe box. When I was in young women's (a teenager) I copied all of her recipes that I wanted from her collection so that I would have them when I got married. Turns out, it's a good thing I did. I just discovered this beauty and it's delicious. It looks burned in my pictures, but it isn't. Just crappy photography and light. We had some apples that were way soft so I thought we'd give this a try rather than throw them away. It only took about 4 large apples, so give it a go. It's as easy as.....cake :).
