I've Discovered

Yesterday we enjoyed some fabulous sunshine and windows open. It was wonderful!!
It seems that there's a reason I can't seem to lose the 10-15 lbs I dream about losing. Let me enlighten you... after I show you the beautiful rose I got for Valentine's day. I'm a sucker for roses and Jon knows it...
Anywho, our Valentine's festivities consisted of:
My gift: fudge covered Oreos. You can never go wrong with those.
Homemade Sugar cookies. I was going for purple frosting, but whatevs...
Jon's gift: Fudge. From Scheels. Di.vine.

Peanut Butter M&M's; my self-control was not so good one day at the store, Sweetart Hearts; more tempting than I'd anticipated, and a Carmel Cadbury Egg; another piece of my gift and very, very tasty.

Peeps. A little Easter preview. Apparently, Jon's self-control wasn't so hot at the store, either.

And, of course, my chocolates. Which, I might add, I've shared. But, they are still oh so divine that they really did deserve a post of their own.

So you see. My lack of motivation is really only a small piece of my problem. But, at least I can say that I haven't gained anything. Yet.

Slightly unrelated, but I thought this was funny. This is how most of us eat our scrumptious cookies....
Julianne, however, likes to take a different route.
The girl is crazy about frosting. She must be Jon's kid.

February happenings...or not.

Pathetically, it's the 11 of February and I haven't taken one picture of my family. Not. One. Yeah, I know. I'm working on it. My biggest beef is that our camera is retarded, but that really is a lame excuse. I'll work on that. Promise. However, just for the sake of blogging an accomplishments and some tidbits, I thought I'd throw on a blog. My cyber-friend, Natalie, put an excellent recipe on her blog the other day and as she does this frequently, I had to give it a go.... Plus, I'm a sucker for soft pretzels and my children have inherited it from me. Auntie Anne's are the best kind, but these were VERY tasty. I'll be making them again; probably sooner rather than later...

Especially since I was successful!
See, aren't we enjoying our pretzels? Brooklyn was around, too. She just hadn't made it to the table yet...
Warm, soft, tasty goodness I tell ya. There's nothing like it!

And, in honor of Valentine's Day (and my absolute LACK of any ideas for gift for Jon), here is the one tradition I do have. Well, actually a tradition my Dad has... For the last 20+ years, every Valentine's, I get a box of these babies from my sweet Daddy. (And yes, I'm one of those people who calls their father "daddy" while in their 30's.) These candies are from Brigham City and they are delish! He always buys my favorite kinds: caramels, mints, and the maple-nut ball (I'm not really sure what these are called but they are divine....). He used to have them waiting for me on the kitchen table when I got up in the morning. I was happily surprised when I got a package the first year we lived in Des Moines. Every year I get a box, no matter where I live and I love it!
It is officially Valentine's day since my Chocolates came in the mail today. I didn't even have to open the package to know what they were :). Gotta love it!! I could eat the whole box alone. In one day. For the sake of my waistline, I try not to do that... I even share them with my family. I know, I know. Aren't I gracious :).
Yep, it's Valentine's. Now, what in the heck am I going to get for Jon??
