The Christmas after we got married, we got a tent. Last weekend, we opened it for the very first time. Pathetic, I know, but it was totally fun. All except for the fact that I was expecting it to be relatively warm. I. Was. Wrong! We drove up to a campground on Mt. Charleston, getting there around 6 p.m.; the thermometer on the car already read 60 degrees. 60 degrees!! Holy Cow! Needless to say, it was a bit chillier than we were expecting. Regardless, we had a blast. We roasted hot dogs, had s'mores, went for a hike...and then cut the trip short due to the rain. It rained off and on the entire time we hiked and then was raining steadily by the time we were done. All of our supplies got wet, so we packed it up and came home a day early. Freezing, still and wet, we watched the thermometer on the car rise 30 degrees before we even got back to the highway. Yes, in the mountains it was 60-something and raining. At our house, less than an hour away, it was dry, sunny and 95+. Welcome to Nevada, I guess.

looks like lots of fun...rain and all. So wait...did you even sleep in the tent or did you go home before spending the night?
Your hair is getting so long!
Even though the rain ended it early...what fun to get out and camp. Looks like a pretty area!
Looks like you had a good time, and I love the pictures!
LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF FUN!! I LOVE YOUR BACKGROUND!!! I WISH I KNEW HOW TO DO THAT KIND OF STUFF!! :)
It looks like you guys had a ton of fun and the scenery looks beautiful! Joel and I love camping. We once went in April in MI...a little too cold for me--so I hear you on the chilly weather.
I love camping!! I am jealous! It is so fun you live by josh and andrea and can do fun things with them!!
Crazy how such a short amount of distance can give such a huge amount of change! Yes, truly welcome to Nevada - that happens alot.
I'm glad you got to see some rain though, and get pictures. It doesn't happen all that often! :-)
That is so crazy! I can't believe the difference in temperature, it looks really beautiful where you were at though. Todd and I have only been camping once and that was before Anna was born. I am to wimpy to take her along so I think you are great just for trying!
I love camping. It took us quite a while to get our tent out too, but we can't wait to use it again!
Hopefully next time you go, you will have better luck with the temperature and the rain!
