Valentine's day has come and gone and we enjoyed a little celebration at the Hibshman house (of Iowa). Neither Jon nor I feel the need to battle the crowds just to go out on Valentine's day. I enjoy Valentine's and appreciate the opportunity to tell those I love that, in fact, I do love them; but I don't see that needs to be done at a restaurant with the rest of the world doing the exact same thing. So, we had a family dinner at home. Complete with fancy glasses and steak. What could be better?
Funny thing, too, great minds think alike. I went to B&N to pick up Jon's gift (I'd had them set it aside for me), and as I pulled into the parking lot, I spied the Honda already there. I debated whether or not to go in, since I knew Jon was most likely shopping for me. I figured, what the heck? His surprise for me was already somewhat spoiled, so why not let it be mutual? So, Julianne and I "ran into" him and we made our purchases together. Needless to say, we all got a new book for Valentine's day! I wrapped Jon's and the kids' and Jon wrapped mine and we were all happily opening presents after dinner.
Following our tasty dinner we enjoyed:
some coconut cake, which you can NEVER go wrong with! It was an excellent way to spend Valentine's day. I highly encourage us all to share the love, even if we need a little reminder now and then :)
Happy Valentine's Day!!
