Sewing

I've said it before and I'm certain I will say it again... She is my kid.  Her teacher suggested that they could bring a pillow to sit on, so of course, Brooklyn needed a pillow to sit on.  I was just going to have her make one with scraps and stuff it with left over batting but I decided that wouldn't really be useful and hard to wash. While they were at school the first day, ran to Jo Ann's and picked up a pillow form and found a cute remnant.  Brooklyn was beside herself with excitement.

First we ironed and cut the fabric.  I let her do this as much as could, but that is not one of my strong points.  Not by a long shot.  We were just doing a simple envelope pillow, so it really was a perfect project.
Then, the sewing began.  I had Jon snap some pics, because it was too hilarious not to.

Notice the tongue.  That is a very Henich trait (my mother's side).  She had her tongue out, the entire time.

I'm told that when I was young (kindergarten/pre-k) I used to color with my tongue out. And it was moving side to side in sync with my hand.  I don't doubt it.  I still catch myself sticking my tongue into just the right spot when I'm concentrating really hard..

She sewed the whole thing on her own and was super proud of herself.
Now, she has a pillow at school and can bring the case home to wash every now a then.  Way to go babe!  Maybe I'll learn how to let you learn before you're 30.....

how fun. I wish I could sew. And by the way I didn't know you moved to Waukee. When did that happen? Wow I must really be out of it.
I can't believe how fast kids grow up some times it still feels like yesterday we all lived in Maple Grove.
