To start off: What do you do when life is a little overwhelming? Don't do anything productive. Turn on Disney and snuggle up. Works for me.
And, what's the best way to spend your honeymoon? Letting a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old paint your nails of course!
Who's next? Oh yeah, David can't be left out!!
It's the Fourth of July so Sparklers are an absolute necessity for me. They've always been my favorite. Brooklyn is hot and cold about it all. One year she loves them. The next she's terrified and won't take it. This year, she played along. Mason tried it out, but wasn't sure really what he was supposed to do. It was pretty funny to watch his face, though.

It would've been more fun had it been darker, but it was nearing on bedtime and I generally stick close to bedtime for my sanity.
Brooklyn still LOVES to hold Julianne. Fortunately, Julianne is getting better and better at holding herself up, which is good for Brooklyn. See in Julianne's face how much SHE loves it?
The Fourth, I tried to make a "special" dinner. It was a holiday after all. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as planned....as usual.
I tried to make fried chicken (which I have done once before, successfully). This time was not one of those times. The corn was ok, except that it was super cold by the time we got to eat it. The Cornbread was over cooked. The top didn't look like it was cooking so it got left in too long. Ugh. And then there was the chicken...oh the chicken. I battered it, and fried it. Then, when I went to put it on the table, it was bleeding! Yes, bleeding!! It TOTALLY grossed me out and torked me off that I'd ruined it. I tried to fry it more, but since I'd cut it open to see if it was done (of course it wasn't) it didn't really work. So, we threw it in the oven. ...20 min later the smaller pieces were done enough to eat. Let's just say it was another pothole on my way to "domestic Goddess"...and we did NOT keep the leftovers. This was Sunday:
He fell asleep sometime around 6 or 6:30 (which is not terribly uncommon). The beauty was that he STAYED asleep until almost 7 the next morning.... Oh YEAH!
We got to have a great day at the Shark Reef with Ticey! It was SO fun! Brooklyn had a blasts carrying around the wand to hear the informational recordings about the animals. I think the wand was the highlight of the whole aquarium for her :).

Good times, good times. Besides the fact that it was awesome to get out of the house, I couldn't have asked for better company. Thanks again, Ticey!!
Unfortunately, it couldn't last. While driving home from the strip, the bumper fell off. It was dragging behind me and I was in the inside lane. All I could do was pull through the carpool lane into the inside emergency lane and assess the damage. It was all broken off except for one side. I couldn't get it on and I couldn't get it off. Oiy...Luckily, some NDOT guys pulled over on the other side of the freeway and helped me take it the rest of the way off. THEN, of course it didn't fit in the back so we had to put it in the passenger seat, hanging over the baby. Oh, the joys. It was just swell. So now my car looks SUPER dumb. Hopefully I'll get the check from the insurance soon so I can get it fixed!

Oh no! That's terrible! Julianne is getting big! Did you cut your hair short?
Too bad about the bumper.
Isn't it fun when the little ones fall asleep so early and sleep all the way until morning, I love it!
Glad you had fun at the aquarium!
And the chicken...Well that sounds like something that I would cook! Sorry the dinner didn't work out for ya.
Here's my recipe for fried chicken...it's one that never fails. KFC! Just sneak it home and put it on a plate. Take the bucket over and put it in the neighbors garbage can and destroy the evidence. Works every time! Sorry to hear about the bumper. Can't imagine being stuck on that freeway system. Glad that someone arrived to "rescue" you. Give the kids a hug for me ;o)
Loved the post, it was so much fun to read!
I still have the nail polish on my nails from when Brooklyn and Mason painted them. I love the reminder of them and am actually sad for when it peels off.
I hear ya with the whole pothole on the way to domestic goddess thing...I have been trying to cook every day this week and have had some successes and some failures. Hmm...maybe I should blog about that!
I LOVE sparklers. I agree, they are the best thing about the 4th of July, but this year I didn't play with any. :( Maybe on the 24th!
