Happy Halloween!

Once again, Halloween has come and gone. I must admit. I used to love Halloween, but it's sort of lost its charm. I get excited for my kids but costuming them up and making them look "just right" stresses me out just a little. Plus, this year was a little on the disappointing side. We only dressed up one time. Usually we have 2 or 3 reasons to throw on the old costume. Of course, we did have another opportunity that we opted out of, but we won't discuss that.

Charm or no charm we participated in the events. Can't pass up an opportunity to squish around in a pumpkin and attempt to not cut your finger off....
I was telling some people at work the other day; things are fun to do with your kids, but inevitably it's actually you doing it. Who else, besides a parent, says "WE carved pumpkins last night" when in actuality, they were the only ones wielding a knife. Oh well. We had a good time. And, I saved my pumpkin for dinner in a pumpkin some night this week. (I think I'll use this recipe again...)
Finally, it came. The big night. We had friends over to go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood with us, and after dinner got all set to go. Unfortunately, this is how Julianne felt about her costume:

A get-it-off-as-fast-as-you-can-while-screaming-your-head-off kind of moment.
I really really wanted a picture of her in it. She would have made SUCH a cute chicken..
Oh well. We had Buzz to keep us a safe,
and a beautiful ballerina for entertainment.
Finally I just handed Julianne her bag and let her go with a witch shirt on as a costume. People gave her candy regardless.. It's not like she's going to remember.. (except that I have all these super pictures).
Of course, we couldn't leave Conrad the Clown or Princess Hallie out. We so love it when they come to play. Especially when there's a bucket of sugar involved.

We wrapped the night up with a game of Settlers (which I very nearly won....) and called it good. On Halloween night, I worked and it was just another night. Hope everyone had a good time!! (and I sincerely hope all the candy around my house stays off my gut...) :)

Oh Anne Marie you are too funny, I love your pictures...sounds like despite it all Halloween was a success at the Hibshman house! Your kids are adorable as always and love the photo of you!

I love it. I can't get over how big Brooklyn look in her dress - when did she get so big? And Hallie and Conrad too! They look great! I'm jealous you are in Iowa:)

ps - just put Julianne in the costume tomorrow, take a picture and post it. I tried and tried all weekend to get good pictures and finally took each kid separately today and got them...no group shot, oh well. I think I took them the day after last year too. Who knows the difference... except now everyone who reads your comments:)

hope work is working out:)
Miss ya!
