festivities

Before I jump into the point of this post, I can't help sharing a little funny from my day. Mason seriously talks so much all the time now. It seems like one day he just decided to start talking and all his words came out. Seriously, the kid talks in sentences. I spend my day listening to, "Mommy where Daddy go?" The response is always, "He's at work, buddy." Before long, it became: "Mommy, Daddy go work?". Seriously. The kid gets it. It's CRAZY! Anywho...today we were out and about and as a treat, we stopped at Wendy's to have lunch. Mason (amazingly) ate all his chicken nuggets and wanted more (he hasn't been the best eater lately). So, Brooklyn shared. She broke off half of her last nugget to share. As she passed it across the table, Mason said, "Tank too, Ma". I'm not sure why he calls her "ma" but it was SO cute! (he calls her Ma all the time; it's way funny). Awww....ok, moving on :).

Being as tomorrow is Halloween, it's none other than.....PUMPKIN CARVING TIME!! I love carving pumpkins and since Jon loves me he puts up with it. Brooklyn was way stoked this year. She was all prepared to do her own face (which she did, but unfortunately she drew mostly circles and cutting circles in pumpkins is not one of my stronger talents...she didn't seem to mind). So, without further ado, here we go! (ok, so my captions have issues. Each caption is for the pic above it...I swear...)

Ewww!!! Guts! The girl had no fear, though. Dig in!

Yummy thought, eh?

The "boy" pumpkin. Mason was "helping" by trying to put the pieces Jon cut out...back in.
The "girl" pumpkin
Fascination without the desire to touch the guts...this wore off...
And.....all done!
Aren't they cool! Although I love the cool carvings some people can do (I've never pulled them off...), I seriously love Jon's classic carve! Awesome, eh?

Last, but not least, as tonight is the ward's "trunk-or-treat" the costumes will be officially worn. Cinderella and the Chicken....is that a book maybe?? Brooklyn is beside herself with excitement. It's going to be an interesting night. My awesome sister sent the kids some Halloween pillowcases this year. Although she made B a bag one year, Mason doesn't have one, so we'll be putting those pillowcases to good use! Then, tomorrow, we're off for MORE trick-or-treating with our cousins. It should be quite the sugary weekend! Happy Halloween!!!

You are so good to carve pumpkins. In all honesty that is my LEAST favorite part of Halloween. But your turned out so good and cute and the "process" looks fun. Okay, so I may try it out!

Love your two stories about your little guy! He's so cute!

Looks fun! We didn't even carve pumpkins this year, we're such boring folks! Have fun at Trunk or Treat, we're going to ours tonight too!

Yay for all of the fun Halloween activities! Love your Cinderella and her chicken :) Happy Halloween!

PS - it's nice to hear that other people in CA are having a hard time with everything too, thanks for your words of encouragement!

Nothing beats a classic face on a pumpkin. Garrett does that every year! The kids' costumes are ADORABLE! I love this time of year!
