All Grown Up

Well. We went. We conquered! Brooklyn's first day of Kindergarten was GREAT! and I didn't even cry. :)

All ready to go in a new outfit. She has one white shirt...which she skillfully got covered with chocolate shake in the last two weeks. So, I had to go find her a new white shirt yesterday morning. Turns out...all I could find was white tank tops. Funny thing, I had to tuck it in so it didn't look like a wife-beater. Turned out cute, though...
Who could go to Kindergarten without a Princess backpack???
Silly girl. I think she was feeling the photo sesh was getting a little extreme.
This is Brooklyn and her cousin Ethan. He had his first day of school yesterday, too. Since his mom has 3 other kids, Grandma watched the other kids which brought Ethan over during the picture-taking festivities.
WELCOME BACK, ADAMS OWLS!
Mason really really really wanted to go in too. I had to distract him with the slide so he wouldn't try to follow her into the classroom.
Found her hook all by herself....
and remembered where her desk was....

{sigh} my little girl has it all worked out. No tears from her (or me) and we kinda had to remind her to tell us good-bye. I'm glad she was so excited, though. Better than the nursery experience we've had with Mason :). I hope that isn't a foreshadowing of HIS kindergarten experience...

2 1/2 hours later, we went to get her. Her cute teacher walks them to the gate and they stand there until they see their mom or dad...
Good-bye! See you tomorrow!

When we gave Brooklyn the third degree, she wasn't very cooperative...
What did you do today? Lots of stuff
Did you play outside? No.
Did you learn a class rule? I don't know....
You get the idea. Later, when the perma-grin was starting to fade, she told me they went downstairs to "PG" (I think she meant PE) and did the chicken dance. (the school is very old and the gym is in the basement, and they have a real fireplace in the library...it's nuts). That made her giggle a little. I think she enjoyed the chicken dance. It was no trouble getting her to go back today. In fact, she went from the car to her room all by herself. And so it begins. We are loving it!

YAY Brooklyn!!! She looks so cute and grown up! Remember when we moved to Des Moines? Erik and Brooklyn were not even 18 months old yet. CRAZY!
