the eventful weekend....

Sticking to my goal, I took my camera this weekend and actually used it to take pictures!! I know. Nobody keel over from shock. We actually had a pretty eventful weekend. Half of it, anyway.

Starting on Friday, Katie had this brilliant idea that we needed to scrapbook. I've packed away all my pics (thinking/hoping we wouldn't be living with our lives in a storage unit this long...), but I really have been wanting to make pages anyway. So, scrapped we did and made the necessary mess. It. Was. Divine. I had an absolute blast and I hope Katie did, too.

I even made some pretty cute pages, if I do say so myself....
Hope I can get some pictures to work with them! I made a total of 4 2-page layouts, I think and it was a TON of fun.
Later that evening, we had a little birthday party for Benjamin. He requested hamburgers and Jon's Red Velvet cake. The entire menu was delicious and a good time was had by all.
Ben said he had serious trouble deciding between red velvet and the coconut cake I've been making lately. So, I made him a coconut cake last night as our "gift" to him. Both cakes were to die for and it's NO WONDER I weigh more than I ever have not pregnant.
(On a side note, I've been very successful with my walking. I've walked 6 days a week since I started and I think that was more than a month ago....)

Saturday brought some craziness all its own. My sister was supposed to fly in at 9:30 a.m. and just as I was about to wake up Julianne to go with my dad to pick her up, he called and said she'd wrecked her car on the way to the airport and we weren't sure she would get in that day. And so it began. While I was waiting to hear if she was coming or not, Jon's grandpa had a nasty fall and landed himself in the hospital. It was just that kind of day. Luckily, Grandpa is doing better and Sara made it on a later flight. Julianne and I spent most of the day in the car, but it was sooooo good to see her and Parker and have some time with my dad.
Sara decided that we should have Easter while she was here, so Sunday brought on some early festivities.
Grandpa Ken is always a sucker for his Grandkids! (as it should be). Mason said to me, "Mom will you push me on the swing? No, I'll go ask Grandpa". And, of course, Grandpa is willing. My kids love it and I love that he loves it.
Since we were having an Easter egg hunt, dying of eggs was necessary...with all the cousins of course.
Julianne and Jon supervised the hunt and were in charge of the camera.
The spoils of the hunt. The kids thoroughly enjoyed it and I enjoy watching them..
Here are all the Grandkids on my side, minus a few older ones. Kenny was milking, Kaylee was with her dad and Zach with his mom. Wow. There are a lot of us these days...

It's so fun to spend the day with family and let the kids roam around and play. The kids at my Dad's house are a little older and so very little supervision is required and luckily it's safe enough that they can be outside. We love to go there and see everyone.

Have a Happy Easter and safe travelings!

I want a scrapbook night, those pages look great! I think the hunt pictures are good too - way to go using the camera...and posting. I took pictures and still haven't posted.

When is your spring break - or was it last week?

Those scrapbook pages are so cute! You seriously make me want to be crafty, but being crafty is expensive, so I'll just "want" to be crafty for now.

Glad you had fun celebrating Easter.

Coconut Cake....mmmm...I might have to make a special trip over sometime.
