So, as sewing is my new fascination, I've been wanting to attempt another quilt. I made one in high school. It wasn't fabulous then, and it's falling apart now, so I wanted to try again. My first quilt was made of triangles. I couldn't cut straight then, either. Oh well. It was fun and I was proud of myself for completing it. But, I thought it was about time to try again. This time; I stuck with squares...
And, here is the beginnings:

I was lucky enough to find remnants that I liked and so got the fabric for much less than I would've paid otherwise. I have always wanted a quilt with our wedding colors. Usually that is what my mom would've made us, but at the time, I was more interested in having my bedroom coordinate. So, starting with
lavender and navy blue, I went from there.
I was having some serious struggles with the pattern last night and it's a REALLY good thing my sister loves me. She talked me through it and I spent much of last night unpicking sewing I had done incorrectly after misunderstanding the directions. Looking at it this morning though, it was well worth it.
Next up, choosing a what colors to do the border around the piecing. Then, I'll save up some $$ for the backing and the batting. Then, I'll tie it, since I have no quilting abilities whatsoever. Trust me. I've tried.
It might be a while before I can show the finished product, but I'm satisfied with the start I've made....
Hobbies are such fun! Love it!

I have a quilt that same pattern on my bed right now! It was a wedding gift made by my mother-in-law and I LOVE it. Mine is blues and yellows. She did end up quilting it, and I don't think you could really do that part wrong, basically just a running stitch on every seam. Lots of time and work, but you wouldn't mess it up! I'm getting a quilting itch too. I've started a scrap quilt. We'll see how I do. I'm excited to see the finished product!
I looks great! Good luck getting it finished.
That looks amazing, can't wait to see the finished product!
It was great to see you this weekend! LOVE the quilt -- I'm very proud of you!!!
