The ending of an Era

After 6 years and 3 kids, and 5 years and 2 kids we've officially taken down all crib mattresses and the beds that held them.
We bought the crib when we first moved to Iowa back in 2005.  We'd been borrowing one from my sister and Brooklyn was already 18 months when we came.  She moved into the toddler bed when Mason was born.  We were in a very small apartment and the room they shared didn't have room for a twin bed and all the furniture we had in there already.
Then, when Julianne was born, we inherited a bed for Brooklyn and Mason got moved to the toddler bed; where he has slept ever since.  None of them have complained but I felt long ago that it was time for a more solid/larger bed for him.  Recently I "broke" the crib and made Julianne's crib a toddler bed.  She could have easily inherited the toddler bed, but as we were buying new beds, we figured we would just get them all done and not have to bed shop again for a good long time!

With two twin beds in the girls' room, it's a lot smaller looking than when it was a twin and a crib.  We took the plunge and bought a bunk bed for the girls and gave Mason the box spring/mattress that Brooklyn had been using.  They are all 3 happy as clams and I feel much better that we will not have to do that again for a while.

Mason can finally use the comforter my sister found him 3 years ago and the train sheets I bought about a year ago.  He was ecstatic...
We waited to purchase until a weekend that Jon's Dad was up for a visit so we could borrow his suburban and not pay for delivery.  Turns out it was extra good we did, too, because we got the bunk home and unpacked and discovered no instructions.  None were available online and I called the store only to find we'd bought the last bed and they had thrown the display's instructions away.  Lucky for us, Jon and Dave are very handy and figured it out.  Thanks, guys!!

So, here we are.  Three big kids and three big kid beds.  Sigh.  It's kind of a relief, honestly.  Not for absolute certain, but I'm pretty sure we're done with those crib mattresses forever! :).

That is such a nice bunk bed! It will probably look good separately too if they ever get their own rooms!

Wow, that is a nice bunk bed! Do the girls love it? I hope Mason isn't too sad that he can't sleep up there - but he got a new bed too - so maybe that made up for it?

I know you aren't, but I'm a little sad you are done with those crib mattresses :(

I have been meaning to call you! You may have already guessed that I don't think we need the toddler bed. I don't think we have room for it. we'll too probably have to do bunk beds or something to fit them all in their room. Thanks for the offer though!
The beds look awesome! Where does the time go?
