Before we get into that, however; I'm SO proud of myself. I've found that a lot of recipes call for basil and TONS of Italian stuff that Jon makes does, so I decided to attempt growing some. Aren't my sprouts cute?? I'm so proud of them. Our house faces south, so in order for them to get sun, they're on our upstairs front balcony (nowhere near the kitchen), but since they are just babies that hasn't been a problem yet. I hope I can keep them alive. I really, really, really really want to grow strawberries, but due to lack of backyard (meaning there's no soil, it's all rock), I'm not sure they'd survive. They'd have to live in a pot on my balcony. Does anyone have any thoughts about that? that, and it'll be well over a 100 degrees for the next 6 months or so....On to my most recent decorating attempts. Since it's nap time and {gasp} Mason is sleeping, I only have pics of the boys' room, or rather mason's room since he's the only boy thus far...
Side note: I gasp about the sleeping b/c we finally took the side off the crib with some success. The first night he fell out about 5 times, only waking up once. However, that wasn't a very good night's sleep.... Then, in the ensuing days, naps were pretty much non-existent due to his ability to get out...So, after three days and much grumpiness, I put the side back on so he would take a real nap. Although that aided the grumpiness, it didn't help at bedtime. That night he got out of bed a dozen times and finally I needed him to go to bed, so the side went back on. He didn't really appreciate that, but what do you do. So, finally, yesterday I took it off again and we went without a nap. He was still a little moody but not so bad, and he stayed in bed when we put him there. I didn't have much hope for a nap today, but I put him down over an hour and half ago and haven't heard a sound HOORAH!
On to my decorating. Here are the walls in the boys' room...I'm actually feeling pretty good about it... Can't wait until we can paint!
My sister is AMAZING at cross stitch... Brooklyn has one too... and the vinyl thing is from grandma, can't go wrong there...
Aren't all the blocks cute??? Thanks Shelly and Dawn!!
And, finally, the CUTE curtain I got on clearance that started it all. It's a perfect mesh of colors, I think. I'm all for blue, but I love that all the colors are coordinated together.I've been keeping my eye out for a cute curtain rod for Brooklyn's room. They're a little pricier than I was hoping. Ok, so they're only $10, but after paying $1.50 for Mason's (that will be hidden).... But, no rush. I'm being patient. I'm going to find just the right one for just the right price and that will make it 10 times better! That and a comforter for her "new" bed. I'm WAY stoked about her getting a twin.
So, there's my attempts and I gotta say, it feels SO MUCH more like home with familiar wall decor around. I got used to bare walls at the apartment, but I just love walking into the two bedrooms and feeling like they're ours....I'm weird, I know :)

You could buy those hanging strawberry pots. I always think they look like fun, but I have never heard of anyone that has one. I don't know if they would do good where you live or not.
Mason's room looks cute. I really like that sign!
Not weird at all being excited to walk into a room and feel like it is yours!! Way to go on all the projects (especially the basil). About the strawberries - I'm not sure they'd do good in pots since they send shoots out vertically to keep growing, and need quite a bit of space, etc...but who knows though. I bet if you looked into there would be a way! Good luck on that quest.
So your decorating is adorable!!! I loved the curtain you made in your last post...I am sure it will be darling in Brooklyn's room!! As for the strawberries...granted Logan climate is way different that Las Vegas, but last summer I grew Strawberries in pots on my back padio and as long as they stayed watered they grew and gave fruit all summer...try it! Good luck with all your projects...
Cute room!
I love the decor! I know what you mean about apartment living. I am excited because the next place we are renting is a cute little house with painted walls! No more white apartment walls for us. :)
So cute thus far!! Can't wait to see more!! And I think you are genius for growing just those sprouts... miles more than I could ever do!!
I was watching Martha Stewart the other day and a guy from the Univ of Maryland was showing her how to make little garden tables to put on your porches if you can't have an actual garden in your yard. You should check out her website and look at it, it was super easy to make!
