I can't believe it. A year ago today, I was sitting alone in a hospital room with my new little one (as yet un-named then...). She was born at 2:04 p.m. and weighed in at 6 lb 13 oz and a whopping 19 in long. I don't have her year stats, we're going next week. I sat there in that hospital, wondering what the heck I was thinking, jumping into having 3 kids. That, of course, was just new baby jitters. It was perfect timing in our lives for little Julianne. She was the very bright spot in a very roller coaster year.
Now, she is 1. It brings me to tears just to type that. (Have I mentioned that I'm a little emotional in my old age?) She is still a light in our lives. She is walking everywhere. Has a sudden hatred of the dog (he bowled her over the other day), must follow the big kids all over the place and even has words. Ok, so technically they aren't words, but I know what she means when she says them...
One of my favorites to hear is "Mmmmmoah" (more). She also says, "Bah" (with a heavy accent on the 'b' -- bath). She can point to her nose and eye; and loves to poke me in the eye and pick my nose. She also has sounds for tootsies and socks, but those are harder to translate into the blog-world. She gets excited when she sees her jacket and starts waving as soon as she has one arm in. She is also VERY dramatic. Definitely a show-crier. It's pretty funny to watch and a little pathetic at the same time....
We had a pretty low-key day. Sorry all. You only get to look at a boring cake from me. I figure, Jon gets to make all the cool cakes while they're old enough to care, so I should make the ones that are more for us. I thought it turned out pretty cute though. Usually things in my head don't come out so cute in real life...
We had hoagies with the grandma and grandpas, and then she dug in... and dig in she did. I missed it with the camera, but I put a slice on her tray and she picked the whole thing up to take a bite. The only reason she put it back down was that it fell apart! It was too funny. The really funny thing is, Brooklyn dug right in, too (made the mistake of making her cake chocolate...) and Mason wouldn't have anything to do with his cake unless I fed it to him on a fork. Oh the craziness of their personalities...
Then, she figured out that there was frosting on her tray, so she sat there putting her finger in it and sucking it off....
Lastly we opened a few presents. It was pretty hard for Mason to sit back and let her do it. Lucky for him, she didn't really have much interest. In fact, I think Brooklyn and Mason played with her new dollies as much as she did. I'm sure she'll be more possessive of them before her next birthday, though...It's crazy to think that it's been a whole year already. How did the time fly? And, how in the world did I get so blessed with such sweet spirits? I wish my mom could've been here today. I've been missing her lately and things like this make me wonder what she would say. I can hear her sweet cackle as Julianne toddles around and see how she would cuddle her when Julianne just wants to be held. We are so blessed, and I hope I can remember that more clearly in the future.

Happy Birthday to sweet Julianne. I wish we could have been there to celebrate. And, I don't know what you are talking about - your cake looks AWESOME too. I love the dots on it. Great job!
Happy birthday to her! Give her a big hug for us:)
I always say Julianne is a miniature Carole Holmes, so it was good to read that about your Mom. I bet she was there, even though you couldn't see her :)
Happy Birthday to Julianne! I can't believe she is one either, that year went by so fast!
Cute cake!
